Hancock Literacy is funded 100 percent through donations, grants and community support. Every penny stays right here in Hancock County to promote lifelong literacy.
Hancock Literacy focuses on providing and supporting literacy programs for citizens in our community. We currently serve over 2,200 children in our Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) program. This program mails one age-appropriate book to each child’s home at no cost to the family. Here are a few quotes from some of our Imagination Library parents.
“This is a wonderful program. Low-income families, like mine, will have a better future.”
“DPIL is amazing! The quality and variety of book titles are wonderful and the ideas for activities and post-reading questions help both the parent and child get more engaged in the story. I especially love the fact that the program is all-inclusive and that no child is turned away.”
In addition to our DPIL program, we also offer Tell-A-Tale Writing Contest, Community Books, Parent Partner Videos, and we support local Family Literacy Nights at our local schools. In order to continue our programs and work towards our vision that every person in Hancock County will be literate, we need your help!
